Come on guys, you are experts. How useful is getting a confirmation email that says:
“Congratulations! One of the people you invited has signed up to the site and you have been credited with a referral for the launch!”
It would be useful to be a bit more informative, which one of our referrals has signed up!!!!!

hi Sally,
We thought of that, however it is a bit of a grey area because it could be slightly infringing on privacy if we give away their email address.
However, once the site is launched and you have access to your control panel, you will be able to view your “tree” which will show you who has signed up under yourself.
But even then we won’t show you their email address, only a blog or website address.
I hope this will be acceptable because we can’t infringe on the user’s privacy.
regards
Paul

Yep I appreciate the need to respect privacy, however my concern is to avoid the disaster we had with BlogMad regarding referrals. I’m sure that you gurus can come up with some way to address the point that I’ve raised. Perhaps something along the following lines in the eXlinks Successful Signup email might be a way around this issue. If the new member selects the link “here” in the last para then this activates an appropriate email to be sent to the referer.
Hi there ****@gmail.com!
You have successfully activated your account at eXlinks.net, you are now able to invite other users and start gaining a head start for the launch!
To invite your friends, send them the following url: http://www.exlinks.net/?invite=****@gmail.com
To automatically let your referer know that you have successfully activated your account at eXlinks.net press here and a copy of this email will be forwarded to them.
See you soon,
The eXlinks Team

Hmmmmmm, I don’t think it’s a good idea to use emails like this. Instead, it might be a better idea to generate and store some unique code for each signup and store this in that member’s record and use it in the invite link, something like this:
http://www.exlinks.net/?invite=1F234AEC300
Then at least we can post it in the public domain……we all get enough spam now and don’t want our emails splashed in the public domain.
Cheers, and eXlinks really sounds exciting! You sure you gus aren’t fems, you keep titilating us on the drip….lol.

Hi Sally
We have changed the referrer url.
Send us an email if you need to know your new one.
Thanks for the great suggestion.

My referal link has my email address in it too. I’d rather it be a code number.
I think one of the things that Sally meant in her earlier post is that several of us refered new people to blogmad before it opened in March but our stats don’t show those referals, nor did I for one, ever get any credits from refering those people. All my referal counts started sometime in April or so.
Now I’m worried that I’ll refer a bunch of people to exlinks and end up not getting anything for my efforts. I know that’s not the way it’s suppoed to work .. but that’s what happened when blogmad opened up for beta members and then opened to the public.

It seems amazing to me that people can be so into the eXlinks phenomena when we don’t really know what it is. Do you really think its worth placing a link on my website because if so, i can use your refferal. Cheers

Yes Tricia that was my point.
Jeremy, I’ve sent you an email as I don’t want my addy in the public domain.
Cheers
Sally

How do I get a new referral link? I sent an request (To “paul.kain@gmail.com”) for a new one instead of the old one with my e-mail in it, but still got no reply. What exactly do I need to do, to get a new link?
September 30th, 2006 at 12:48 pm
ok we have set up a mechanism for you to create a new referral link, both will work and both have been tested, you will be credited with a signup regardless of which referrer id is used
To create your more secure referrer id, go to
http://www.exlinks.net/make_hash.php?email=insertemail@address.here
obviously, replace insertemail@address.here with your real email address and it will create a new secure referral id for you.

“The Kinetiq Team is inviting any BlogMad user to sign up for a service thats going to blow your minds and boost your site.”
is being a BlogMad user a pre-requisite to enjoy the benefits of exlinks?

Hi Ymir,
Not at all. We are, however, looking into ways of making the sites operate well together.
Thanks
